The Ian McCrae Travel Award | 20 Jul 2010

The Institute for Air Quality Management has announced the launch of a new award to support the early career development of air quality professionals.

As of 2010, the Institute for Air Quality Management (IAQM) will be running the IAQM Ian McCrae Travel Award every year. A £1000 grant will be used to enable the winners to attend an air quality conference in the UK or abroad by covering conference, travel and accommodation costs.

The Award has been established in memorial to the life and work of Dr Ian McCrae, who passed away earlier this year. Ian was an internationally-respected air quality scientist and was instrumental in setting up the IAQM. He was also the vice chair of Environmental Protection UK's Air Quality Committee.

Applications for the 2010 Ian McCrae Travel Award are now welcome. Applicants must have be in the first five years of their career in air quality and must be a member of the IAQM. Applications may be submitted for a conference taking place anytime between the 5th October 2010 and 4th October 2011.

The £1000 grant can be split between two candidates, with the proportion going to each left at the IAQM Committee's discretion. The candidate will provide receipts for costs and expense after the conference, which will then be reimbursed by the Institute. The winner will also be asked to submit a report on the conference for publication by the IAQM and the Institution of Environmental Sciences.

Please visit www.iaqm.co.uk for more information and to apply. The closing date for applications is the 30th September.
