Opening on EA's Southern Regional Flood Defence Committee | 22 Jul 2010

The Department for Environment, Flood and Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking to appoint a new member to the Environment Agency's Southern Regional Flood Defence Committee.

The Southern Regional Flood Defence Committee helps inform, develop and deliver multi-million pound programmes of work, with responsibility for advising and assisting on engagement with local communities; provide advice on issues such as flooding, coastal erosion, incident management and emergency planning; being involved with raising local levies and testing new ideas and ways of working.

The Environment Agency relies on its committee members to help shape and steer its work and members have an important role to play in helping to reduce the flood risk to people and property in local communities.

Applicants should have a good knowledge of, an experience in, the flood risk management needs of the Committee's area and a passion to help achieve more sustainable communities who are better protected from the risk of flooding.
