Government to Abolish Health Protection Agency | 27 Jul 2010
The Government has announced it will abolish the Health Protection Agency following a review of arm's length bodies (ALBs).
The HPA, which plays an important role in reducing the dangers to health from infections, chemical and radiation hazards, is one of 8-10 health bodies that will be closed subject to Parliamentary approval.
It functions will be transferred to the Secretary of State as part of a new Public Health Service.
