Noise
Noisy traffic queuing in London
Noise is defined as unwanted sound and is the most pervasive environmental pollutant. It has the potential to cause disruption, annoyance and stress leading to sleep disturbance, interference with communication and health impacts. Increasing development, rising traffic levels and the encroachment of a 24-hour society, mean it is crucial that the management of noise is adequately considered in planning and development proposals.
Our Noise work is aimed at promoting integrated policies and practices that encourage the effective management and control of noise.

The week provides an essential focus for noise management work and the opportunity to carry out innovative events to get everyone thinking about noise issues and how to tackle them.
