VIBES 2011
SCOTTISH BUSINESSES ARE ENCOURAGED TO GET THE GREEN VIBE
Businesses throughout Scotland are being encouraged to seek recognition for their sustainable practices through Scotland's leading environmental awards scheme.
The 2011 Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland Awards (VIBES) is now in its 12th year and aims to recognise businesses of all sizes and sectors employing environmental best practice in their daily activity to cut down on resource use, increase sustainability, improve reputation and benefit their company's bottom-line.
Over the past decade, the free-to-enter awards have produced winners from across Scotland, drawn from a range of sectors including:
manufacturing; food and drink; transport; environmental services; oil and gas and leisure.
This year there are a total of nine award categories, which have been selected to align with the specialist sub-groups of the 2020 Climate Group which supports Scotland's Climate Change Delivery Plan. Winners will be selected from the following categories:
• Energy
• Transport
• Waste and Resources
• Environmental and Clean Technologies
• Changing Behaviour
• Management: small company category (less than 50 employees)
• Management: medium company category (between 50 and 250 employees)
• Management: large company category (more than 250 employees)
• Best Micro Business
VIBES is also the only Scottish awards scheme which feeds into the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE). By winning a VIBES
Award, companies are eligible to enter the EBAE, which attract entries from the cream of Europe's most environmentally positive businesses.
This year's awards will launch through a series of free events across the country in May. The launch events are being hosted by previous VIBES winners so that you can see the work that they carried out to win an award and to understand the benefits it has had to the company. Businesses will be able to find out more information about how the awards work and meet some of the VIBES steering group who will be on hand to answer any questions.
