Celebrating 120 years of Environmental Protection:
Facing today’s challenges and securing a healthy future environment
Aston University, Birmingham – Thursday 15 November 2018
This is a landmark year for Environmental Protection UK, which celebrates its 120th anniversary. First formed as the Coal Smoke Abatement Society (CSAS) in 1898, and later becoming the National Society for Clean Air (NSCA) to fight the Great Smogs of the 1950s, EPUK continues to work for its members. Today’s challenges include air pollution from transport, sustainable use of land, and reducing noise. At conference this year we will be building on our achievements of the last 120 years, to look at contemporary issues and the future of environmental protection in a rapidly changing physical and legislative world.
There will be keynote talks and special sessions on air quality, land quality and noise, as well as a session on lessons learnt over the last 120 years and future challenges. The programme is planned to ensure lively discussion in the conference sessions and many opportunities for networking and viewing the exhibition and displays.
